The electrical scope for a pool or hot tub includes: dedicated 240V circuit(s) for the heater and pumps, GFCI protection on all pool-associated circuits per NEC 680, a disconnect within sight of the equipment, an equipotential bonding grid that ties together every metal component within 5 feet of the water (rebar in the pool shell, ladders, handrails, pump motors, heater), and correctly rated conduit and boxes for the wet-location environment.

A bonding grid ties every metal component in and around the pool or spa together with #8 copper so they're all at the same electrical potential. This prevents stray voltage from making the water 'hot' relative to a nearby ladder or handrail — a leading cause of electrocutions. It's required by NEC 680 and life-safety critical.
